Indoor Security Camera – Some Essential Pointers
Indoor Security cameras have become regular equipment in surveillance and security matters. They are used to monitor important places like hospitals, banks, airports, government buildings, casinos etc. These cameras help in enhancing the security of these establishments thereby making people feel more secure. However, when you go to buy them, you have to consider a few points.
Know what you want:
Before deciding on a camera, see what exactly you need to secure your house or office. There is a wide range of indoor security camera available in the market now-a-days. You can opt for a camera that suits your budget. Various aspects like which area you prefer under surveillance and what is the duration of surveillance, should be thought of well in advance. Also, see whether you want the indoor security camera for the commercial or personal purposes. If you want the camera for the personal purpose, what are areas where you would like them to be fitted? Is it the alley or the backyard you want to monitor? Banks like to put the security cameras within each active place, especially where you have your lockers.
CCD Technology:
The indoor security camera uses CMOS or CCD chips technology. The CMOS technology is not as good since it is used by cheap cameras which produce very poor images. On the other hand, CCD or Charge Couple Device produces pictures of high quality. These are available in ¼”, 1/3” and ½” sizes and are relatively more expensive.
Resolution of the camera:
This is perhaps the important aspects which most of the customers don’t know about and often out of sheer ignorance buy products which are of inferior quality. The best way to avoid this is read product reviews if you are a non-scientific person or conduct some research about the technology if you understand the concept of chips. Let me explain scientific aspect here. What is resolution? The security camera generates certain number of lines in a TV. Remember that the higher the number of lines, the better is you indoor security camera. In most of the cameras, you will find 350-380 TV lines. But a camera with 400 lines is good and one with 500 TV lines is exceptional and it will have the best resolution.
Lens choice in camera:
The lens of the camera is its roving eye and the type of lens used in it, determines the viewing angle. This in turn determines how clear the image is even if the light conditions vary. There are two types of lenses used in indoor security camera – monofocal and varifocal. The difference between monofocal and varifocal lenses is that in monofocal lenses the focal length is fixed while varifocal lenses are able to fine-tune various focal lengths while using a solo lens. Additionally, there may be an option of an auto iris or manual iris. Auto iris lens is better than the manual iris lens since it can be used even in varying light conditions.
The bottom line is that you should select a camera ensure that it is fully compatible to your requirements.
