Wired or Wireless Security
Those shopping for a new
security system have many options available to them. The first choice
you will need to make is whether to use a wired
security system or wireless
security system. Hardwired
security systems require electrical wiring to connect the camera to the
control panel. It may also connect door and window sensors, and motion
detectors. Wired systems may be less prone to electrical interference
whereas wireless systems may malfunction at times if other wireless
devices are using the same frequency channels. To avoid electronic
interference it is wise to choose the 5.8
Mhz frequency range.
Unfortunately, the 5.8 Ghz
may not be able to penetrate solid walls. When steel, concrete, and
brick walls are in between your camera and the main security system
device, you may not receive a transmission signal. In such situations,
such as older buildings or where there are long distances between cameras
and the system, you may need to buy a wired security
system. Wired security systems
are used in banks, jails, and other secure facilities. Wireless
cameras can still be employed
within a large commercial security system. For most office and home
security systems, a wireless
camera network is a good choice. If you're unsure as to what kind of
security system to purchase, contact us. We'll be glad to help you.
